We are still studying the political dynamics developing in the community."
Depok, W Java (ANTARA News) - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) is still undecided about whether it will support Joko Widodo (Jokowi) or Fauzi Bowo (Foke) in the Jakarta gubernatorial runoff polls on September 20.

"We are still studying the political dynamics developing in the community," member of the Jakarta legislative assembly (DPRD) Muhamad Gunawan of the PKS faction said after attending a National Leader Champ forum at University of Indonesia (UI) here on Sunday.

PKS will take advantage of the remaining time to consolidate its cadres, he said.

He said both Jokowi and Foke camps had met with Hidayat Nur Wahid, the PKS` candidate in the gubernatorial election. "Admittedly, they have approached us but we have not as yet taken any stand. It is the party leadership that will decide the party`s stand," he said.

PKS`s defeat in the polls is not because regional leaders from the party had low achievement but because Jakarta residents had their own choice, he said.

But he added that the party had to resolve a number of problems in the future. "Loss and win are something normal in politics but this will serve as a valuable lesson for us," he said.

According to a number of quick counts by several pollsters, Jokowi, who is currently Solo mayor, finished first in the July 11 gubernatorial election, followed by incumbent Governor Fauzi Bowo in the second spot.

A quick count by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) showed Jokowi gained 42.74 percent of the votes, with Fauzi trailing behind in second place with 33.57 percent.

Candidates must secure over 50 percent of votes to win the election. The Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU) is set to announce the official result of the gubernatorial elections probably on July 20. (S012)
