SINGAPORE, July 17, 2012 (ANTARA/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) --
Last week's annual SKYTRAX World Airline Awards saw Asian airlines take four of the top five spots at a time when global flight search site Skyscanner [http://www.skyscanner.com ] has seen huge growth in the popularity of these Asian airlines, with an average increase in searches of over 60% year-on-year.
Missing out only to Qatar Airways, South Korea's Asiana Airlines took the second spot followed by Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways and All Nippon Airways.
Commenting on the figure, Skyscanner's Director of Asia Pacific Ewan Gray, said: "This is fantastic news for the aviation industry in the region and very much replicates what we are seeing at Skyscanner. Some of our stats have been staggering, for instance All Nippon Airways searches have increased by a massive 166% on this time last year. This coincides with growth in our overall traffic across Asia Pacific of over 90% since we opened our Singapore office in September 2011."
