Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Trade at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) closed on Tuesday with share price down 0.44 percent on negative sentiment from regional markets.

The BEI composite share price index fell 17.68 points to 3,992.11 with the index of 45 most liquid stocks falling 0.63 percent to 678.10 points.

Fears of worse European debt crisis triggered negative sentiments in the regional markets, analyst Purwoko Sartono of Panin Sekuritas said .

The condition was worse with statement by Chinese central bank about possible slowdown of the Asian economic giant in the third quarter of this year.

The BEI index is expected to hover around 3,970-4,010 points tomorrow, Purwoko predicted.

Gainers led by heavy equipment distributor United Tractor (UNTR) and the country`s largest coal producer Bumi Resources (BUMI) with the losers led by automotive giant Astra International (ASII) ,coal producer Adaro Energy (ADRO) and state lender Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BBRI)

Transactions were 100,558 in frequency with 3.862 billion shares valued at Rp3.516 trillion changing hands.

Regional markets suffering setback included Hang Seng with index down 0.79 percent to 18,903.20 and Nikkei-225 with index falling 0.24 percent to 8,488.09. Straits Times continued to strengthen with index up 0.53 percent to 2,998.44 points. (*)
