Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Publicly-listed pharmaceutical company PT Kimia Farma Tbk (KAEF) said on Tuesday its first-semester net profit surged 127.65 percent to Rp84.174 billion from Rp36.962 billion in the same period last year.

The surge in net profit was fueled by a 12.34 percent rise in sales to Rp1.583 trillion from Rp1.409 trillion, Kimia Farma President Director Rusdi Rosman said.

The strong growth in sales led to a 90.74 percent increase in operating profit to Rp121.736 billion from Rp63.821 billion, he said.

However, operating expenses rose 8.04 percent to Rp1.075 trillion from Rp995.560 billion, and conversion rate loss surged to Rp995.145 billion from Rp387.780 billion.

The gross profit grew 22.60 percent to Rp507.709 billion from Rp414.098 billion.

As per June 30, 2012, Kimia Farma`s assets reached Rp1.916 trillion compared to Rp1.794 trillion a year earlier.
