Australia is Indonesia`s next target market for automotive products after our entry into the markets of Venezuela, Mexico, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia is determined to enter the Australian automotive market after the signing of the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZ-FTA), according to a government official.

"ASEAN has recognised Australia as a major automotive market considering the high demand there," said Budi Darmadi, the Industry Ministry`s director general for high-technology priority industries, here on Wednesday.

"Australia`s automotive market is quite large, with about 1 million units of new vehicles sold per year. However, the market is still dominated by products from Japan, South Korea and Thailand," he pointed out.

"Indonesia wishes to capture about 5 percent of the automotive market in Australia within five years from now. That means we should sell 10,000 units per year," Budi added.

When asked about which automotive products were likely to attract Australian consumers, he said SUV cars were in high demand in Australia.

"Australia is Indonesia`s next target market for automotive products after our entry into the markets of Venezuela, Mexico, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates," Budi stated.
