Hartati, known better as one of the country`s richest business women, was charged with bribing Buol Regent Amran Batalipu to secure a number of certificates needed by her plantation company in Central Sulawesi.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Another senior leader of the ruling Democratic Party Hartati Murdaya was detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday in a bribery case.

Hartati, a member of the party`s Advisory Board which is chaired by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was sent to KPK`s detention house after 9-hours questioning.

Hartati, known better as one of the country`s richest business women, was charged with bribing Buol Regent Amran Batalipu to secure a number of certificates needed by her plantation company in Central Sulawesi.

Hartati has denied the charge saying her company was a victim of extortion by Amran, who was already in KPK detention in the same case.

KPK has also named two other suspects in the case including Yani Ansori and Gondo Sudjono running Hartati`s company PT Hardaya Inti Plantation in Buol.

Earlier Hartati said she did not know about any illicit deal between her company and Amran.

A KPK prosecutor said earlier that Gondo received order from Hartati to give the money demanded by Amran.

The prosecutor said Hartati agreed to provide Rp3 billion for Amran in a meeting on June 11. (*)
