PLN still needs to rent power plant especially coal fired power plants (PLTU) to meet growing demand and to reduce blackouts in the regions.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-owned electric company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) said it will need to rent power plants with a total capacity of 3,336 megawatts to meet power requirement in 2013.
PLN will spend around Rp5.99 trillion for the rent or Rp32.86 per kWh, said Rudi Rubiandini, the Deputy Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources.
The rental increases from Rp5.62 trillion for this year, Rudi told lawmakers in a working meeting here today.
He said PLN still needs to rent power plant especially coal fired power plants (PLTU) to meet growing demand and to reduce blackouts in the regions.
PLN plans to increase rented power plants from 11.4 TWh in capacity for 2012 to 12.17 TWh for 2013, he said.
In 2013, PLN will buy power worth Rp30.83 trillion from independent power producers .
In line with the 2012 state budget, the spending on power purchases is set at Rp28.38 trillion or Rp169.71 per kWh.
Rudi said the largest purchases are from PLTU Paiton reaching 21.7 MWh, PLTU Cirebon at 4.2 MWh and PLTU Cilacap 3,4 MWh, and Wayang Windu 1.8 MWh. (*)
