"The joint team grew suspicious after seeing three trucks together heading from Sosok towards Pontianak."Pontianak, West Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - A joint team of police and military personnel successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle 18 tonnes of sugar from Malaysia into Indonesia on Thursday.
"The sugar was transported by three trucks, which were seized in Sosok Senggau district, West Kalimantan," West Kalimantan Police Spokesman Adjunct Senior Commissioner Mukson Munandar said here on Thursday.
"The joint team grew suspicious after seeing three trucks together heading from Sosok towards Pontianak. After a long chase, the police stopped and inspected the trucks. Then they found 360 sacks of Malaysian sugar, weighing a total of about 18 tonnes," he added.
During the investigation, Mukson stated, it was found that the illegal sugar belonged to CV Wijaya Halim, a company owned by Muklis.
He said the case was now being jointly investigated by the Sanggau and Sosok police.
