"The national electric car`s road-map is already completed and planning to create the electric car product by 2014," said Yuniarto who is also involved in the electric car making team.
However, the national electric car that is scheduled to be done by 2014 is only a prototype.
"The car is scheduled to be mass produced by 2018, because we want to produce the car as serious as possible, and we want the car to be 100 percent made in Indonesia starting from its components to finished," he said.
The existing car manufactures in Indonesia are still foreign-owned, such as Toyota, Daihatsu, and others, therefore the national electric car team is collaborating with relevant ministries to prepare the industry.
"We must also be very careful for the preparation of the national electric car industry, because we have the experience of the national industries such as the Aircraft manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) and Texmaco, which eventually fades away because people`s ignorance," he said.
Therefore, the national electric car team will be coordinating with various ministries while waiting until 2018 to prepare everything.
"I think, our expert technicians from many major universities in Indonesia are capable to make an electric car, but it`s all not done seriously," Yuniarto added.
Yuniarto also said that he is optimistic on the national electric car program will be a success, because it has no choice, fossil fuels are depleting and polluting.
According to lecturer from the Electronic Engineering Polytechnic Institute of Surabaya (PENS) Dr Ir Dedit Cahya Happyanto MT claimed that his institute is ready to support a national electric car project by donating electrical control systems by his method.
"If the national team has been designing the driving motor, then I am ready to help the electrical control systems for the electric cars to manage the required car`s electricity for normal, uphill and downhill, driving conditions," he said.
Dedit also said that the electrical management method would make the electric cars smoothly.
"The driver does not need to set the electrical system when driving uphill, downhill and normal conditions, because the electrical system will be stable by itself," he said. (*)
