Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Coordinating Minister for Political, Security and Legal Affairs Djoko Suyanto has called for the end to arguments between the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and police, since both agencies work to fight corruption in Indonesia.

"Both KPK and Police have argued in the past. I want to keep the dynamics calm between the KPK and police, lest they are pitted against each other and they become disharmonious. They must both work to eradicate corruption in the country," Suyanto said at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Jakarta, on Saturday.

Therefore, the KPK and police should be strengthened, Suyanto added.

"They should not be weakened. The court should also be strengthened so that we do not become sluggish," he said.

Suyanto noted that arguments, such as in the KPK`s Office on Friday night (5/10), should be avoided.

"There should be the function of coordination, the synchronization between the two institutions, as it was written in each of their MoU's and in the laws. I think they will be able to do the task well," he said.

He added that he had contacted Police Chief General Timur Pradopo to remove those police officers who came to the KPK`s office on Friday night (5/10).

Meanwhile, Presidential spokesman Julian A Pasha said that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has been receiving reports of what happened at the KPK`s office and ordered the Coordinating Minister for Political, Security and Legal Affairs to address the issue immediately.

"So what happened last night was also monitored by the President, and the Coordinating Minister for Politics has been ordered to address what was going on," he said.

Tens of police officers came to KPK building on Friday night (5/10) shortly after Police Insp. Gen. Djoko Susilo had undergone questioning due to his alleged involvement in a driving simulation corruption case.
