Al Busyra received the organization`s highest award during a gala dinner at the Sheraton Hotel in New Orleans last Saturday, attended by around 450 guests from the Asian and American communities in Louisiana and environs, the Indonesian Consulate General in Houston said in a press statement released on Monday.
APAS President Stanley said the award was given to Al Busyra in recognition of his efforts and services to enhance friendship and cooperation between the Asia Pacific community and the US, particularly the US state of Louisiana.
Al Busyra said he thanked God that he won the award.
He noted that the award proved that every positive activity carried out by Indonesia in the US, particularly in Louisiana had drawn attention from the local community and government.
"In the past two years, the Indonesian Consulate General in Houston carried out many activities in collaboration with the Louisiana community and government, particularly in economic, social and cultural fields. Louisiana is one of the US states which becomes the working area of the Indonesian Consulate General in Houston," he said.
"The activities have made the Louisiana people more acquainted with Indonesia," he said.
The other recipients of such award came from China, India, Japan and Korea. *
