Data from the Foreign Ministry show Singapore`s investment in Indonesia was recorded at US$5.1 billion last year. In the third quarter of 2012 alone, the figure reached US$3.5 billion.
Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - Singapore remains the biggest foreign investor in Indonesia, with a total investment of US$3.5 billion in the quarter ended on September 30, Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said.

"Singapore remains the biggest source of foreign investment in Indonesia," Marty said following a meeting with his Singaporean counterpart Shanmugam here on Wednesday.

Data from the Foreign Ministry show Singapore`s investment in Indonesia was recorded at US$5.1 billion last year. In the third quarter of 2012 alone, the figure reached US$3.5 billion.

Marty said the upward trend of Singapore investment suggested that relations between the two neighboring countries are getting better and stronger.

"Indonesia-Singapore relations are getting stronger as reflected by the rising value of the country`s investment in Indonesia," he said.

During the meeting the two ministers also discussed tourism cooperation between the two countries.

"Every year millions of foreign tourists visit Singapore and Indonesia. It would be better if Singapore tourists are given incentives to visit Indonesian cities," he said.

Marty said at the meeting the two countries also agreed to encourage and support one another to maintain a momentum to enhance cooperation in various fields.

"This is the benefit of our short but very strategic meeting to encourage each other to maintain the momentum," the minister said. (*)
