"Those sacrificial animals were bought in Indonesia."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Turkish communities around the world donated 33 cows as sacrificial animals for Eid al-Adha, which were sacrificed by officials of Eid al-Adha at Istiqlal Mosque.
"Actually, the Turks donate hundreds of sacrificial animals to Indonesia every year, but there were 33 cows delivered through the Istiqlal," Chief Executive and Manager of Istiqlal, Hajj Mubarok, said here on Saturday.
Mubarok also said that Turkish people in diaspora communities contribute sacrificial animals to Indonesia every year on Eid al-Adha.
"Those sacrificial animals were bought in Indonesia by using funds from the Turkish community. For the sacrificial animals submitted to the Istiqlal, the fund was channeled through the Islamic boarding school of Sulaimaniah Rawamangun in East Jakarta," he explained.
He added that the Istiqlal received 84 sacrificial animals, which included 47 cows and 37 goats on the Eid al-Adha this year.
"After slaughtering all the sacrificial animals, we divide them into five thousand plastic bags, and each bag contains one kilogram of meat," said Mubarok.
According to Mubarok, the distribution of meat using coupons proceeded smoothly.
"We started distributing the sacrificial meat at 4.30 a.m. and finished it at 10.00 a.m.," he said.
A regulation to distribute meat using a coupon system was established in 2010 as a crowd-control measure. (U.Y012/INE/KR-BSR/O001)
