"BoJ bought bonds valued at 11 trillion yen larger than 10 trillion expected earlier."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian currency rupiah lost more value against the US dollar in inter-bank transactions here on Wednesday morning.

Rupiah traded at 9,620 to the dollar weakening from the level of 9,610 earlier on worries about the impact of the Sandy hurricane pushing up demand for safe haven currency.

Trust Securities` analyst Reza Priyambada said the market players feared that the devastating storms would affect activities of the US financial sector and administration.

Another negative sentiment is uncertainties over bail-out for Greece, but positive sentiment came from Japan with Bank of Japan announced monetary stimulus, he said.

"BoJ bought bonds valued at 11 trillion yen larger than 10 trillion expected earlier," he said.

Meanwhile, Monex Investindo Futures` researcher Ariston Tjendra said appreciation of euro could serve as positive sentiment for rupiah.

"Data showed that the Spanish economic contraction was smaller than predicted in the third quarter and the success of Italy in selling 5-10 year bonds contributed to improving the performance of euro," he said.

However, the closure of the US markets as a result of the biggest storms in 27 years had resulted in quieter trade, he said.
