"Everything related to logistic, medicine, public kitchen, and refugee tents has been prepared in every district and city to anticipate possible disaster that may strike any time," Central Java Governor Bibit Waluyo said.
Cilacap, C Java (ANTARA News) - All districts and cities in Central Java are braced for disaster in this rainy season, Governor Bibit Waluyo said here on Monday.

"Everything related to logistic, medicine, public kitchen, and refugee tents has been prepared in every district and city to anticipate possible disaster that may strike any time," the governor said.

Governor Bibit Waluyo made the remark after installing Totto Suwarto Pamuji and Akhmad Edi Susanto respectively as the district head and deputy district head of Cilacap for 2012-2017 period.

According to him, the provincial government so far still has the remaining disaster budget allocation amounting Rp50 billion to help the people who need the funds.

Asked about a possible Mt Semeru cold lava flood disaster, the governor said a new bridge was under construction over Kali Putih river in Magelang district to anticipate the avalanche of sand material from the mountaintop.

"The upstream and downstream of Kali Putih river were closed yesterday but now I have them reopened to reduce the flow of sand material into the old bridge," Waluyo said.

The governor expressed hope that the construction of new bridge could be completed early December 2012 because it has been 70 percent ready.(*)
