"The government will use US$20 billion from the national budget."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government needs US$202 billion to implement transportation development projects under the Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia`s Economic Development Program (MP3EI), said Indonesia`s deputy minister for transportation, Bambang Susantono.
"The government will use US$20 billion from the national budget for infrastructure development in the transportation and energy sectors," said Bambang on Friday.
He said around 35 percent of the funds will come from private firms.
He said the government is keen on getting foreign and private investors to participate in the transportation development efforts.
Bambang said foreign and private parties can participate in the efforts through public-private partnerships and special assignments such as the Kalibaru New Priok port, and a number of airport and railway service projects.
Indonesia`s transportation minister, EE Mangindaan, had proposed an additional infrastructure budget of Rp4.5 trillion, which could be used for a number of development projects including those under the MP3EI program.
"The additional budget could be used for projects such as the Pier VI of the Merak-Bakauheni ferry port and the double-track railway line development in the northern part of Java in 2013," he said.
It could also be used for the development of railway lines in North Sumatra.
