"Without unity corruption will not be able to be eradicated."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has called for unity on the commemoration of the International Anti-Corruption Day here on Sunday.
"We must unite to fight the extraordinary crime," KPK chief Abraham Samad said at the event attended by government officials and public figures.
He said that "without unity corruption will not be able to be eradicated."
"Stop greediness and avarice in the country, which are the root causes of all corrupt actions," he said.
Abraham said "this was the good momentum for all of us to build unity to fight corruption that is growing more massive and dangerous."
Among those attending the event were KPK commissioners Bambang Widjojanto, Adnan Pandu Praja and Zulkarnain, justice and human rights minister Amir Syamsuddin, minister for administrative reform Azwar Abubakar, minister of communications and information Tifatul Sembiring, and the chief of the State Audit Board, Hadi Poernomo.
Also Jakarta governor Joko Widodo, Attorney General Basrief Arief, the chief of the National Police`s Crime Investigation Agency, Commissioner General Sutarman, the deputy chairman of the Center of Financial Transaction Analysis and Reporting, Agus Santoso, the chairman of the executive board of the Transparency International Indonesia, Natalia Santoso and the executive director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Yuri Fedotov.
