"I predict those two things would happen in 2013."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - An observer of the Advocate Division of Corruption Study Center of Gadjah Mada University (Pukat UGM), Oce Madril, has predicted that corruption would increase in 2013-2014, due to tense political rivalries.

"During this period, political parties will attempt to raise large amounts of political funds for the 2014 general election," Oce Madril said here during a discussion, on Saturday.

Madril also predicted that clashes between political parties would rise as tense competition began between top politicians facing general elections.

"I predict those two things would happen in 2013," he said.

There were some examples of corrupt behavior during the national and regional budget (APBN/APBD) allocations, as reported in 2012, Madril said.

"Many politicians were involved with corruption cases, in central and local (administration), that the government must pay attention to," he said.

Meanwhile, spokesperson of the Democratic Party, Hinca Panjaitan, said strong encouragement and support is needed by law enforcement institutions to combat corruption.

Panjaitan also suggested that society take part in the supervision and control of the state and regional budget allocations to fight corrupt practices.
