"I was stopped from staying close to my daughter while the film shoot was on."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Health Ministry has stated that it will issue a warning to Harapan Kita Women and Children Hospital over the filming activity that took place in the hospital`s intensive care unit and caused discomfort to a patient and his family.
"We will also warn the hospital`s directors of sanctions, in accordance with the rules and regulations, which might be implemented in stages after being determined by the Health Minister," Chairul Radjab Nasution, a director for health affairs of the Health Ministry said during a press conference at the Ministry of Health on Friday.
The complaint over the filming of a soap opera in the hospital was lodged by the family of Ayu Tria, a nine-year-old girl who was suffering from leukaemia and was hospitalized on Wednesday (December 26) evening for undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit.
Ahmad Kurnianto Syaiful, the father of the patient, said Ayu was suffering from the disease since the age of two and had to be brought to the hospital on Wednesday because of serious diarrhoea.
However, the filming activity going on at the hospital`s ICU inconvenienced him and his daughter, who died while undergoing treatment.
"I was stopped from staying close to my daughter while the film shoot was on. At half past one, the nurse called me to see my daughter`s condition. Even then, instead of letting me in through the main door, they took me through the side door," Kurnianto stated.
At around 2pm, Ayu went into a coma when her heart stopped functioning normally. And at 2.30 pm, she was declared dead.
Chairul said the film shoot at the ICU might have caused discomfort to Kurnianto and his daughter, but it did not affect the health services provided during the time.
"There was no barrier when the patient entered the emergency room, from where she was later taken to the ICU. The film shoot was done in other areas of the ICU that were not being utilized," he added.
