"Close to 900 people visit the zoo on holidays."
Denpasar (ANTARA News) - The Bali Zoo in Singapadu, Gianyar, reached full capacity on January 1, 2013.

"The average number of visitors on weekdays is 400 people, but today, the zoo reached full capacity. 1,100 people visited the zoo today," said Kristiana Chandra, who looks into the Bali Zoo's Public Relations, on Tuesday.

According to her, most of the visitors were local tourists from major cities in the country, including Jakarta and Surabaya.

Although it was raining, many people had visited the zoo because there are close to 350 species of animals in the zoo.

She said a total of 2,300 people had visited the zoo from Wednesday (26/12) to Sunday (30/12).

"Close to 900 people visit the zoo on holidays," she said.

Most of the people visit the zoo to enjoy bird shows and to see a variety of animals.

Some visitors even bring their families to educate their children on nature and animals.

People enjoy looking at endangered animals, including the Owa Javan, Land Kangaroo and the Bali Starling.

Close to 20,000 people had visited the Bali Zoo in 2012.

"In 2011, 15,999 people had visited the zoo. The number of visitors in 2012 had increased drastically," she said.
