Kolaka (ANTARA News) - The Kolaka district administration in Southeast Sulawesi provinces said it renovated 1,101 houses of poor people to be fit for dwelling in 2012.

The city administration provided building materials like roofing, chairman of the Kolaka office of the regional development planning board Fahruddin Rahim said.

There were contributions received for the renovation program including 65,770 galvanized iron sheet, Fahruddin said here on Wednesday.

"There were many companies taking part in the program mainly mining companies operating in that area," he said.

Meanwhile, the district administration has built bridges , roads and breakwater to contribute to the welfare of the local people, he said.

Kolaka Regent Buhari Matta said he appreciated active participation of sub-district chiefs in the program.

The program would be carried out in 2013 to finish work not yet not yet completed in 2012, Buhari said.

The 11.7 kilometer road between Kolaka-Dawi-Dawi has been paved yet, he said.
