The main contributors to the inflation was rice, fresh fish, gold ornaments, cigarettes and air transport.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said Indonesia`s inflation was 4.3 percent in 2012.

BPS Chief Suryamin said the main contributors to the inflation was rice, fresh fish, gold ornaments, cigarettes and air transport.

Among the cities, Palangkaraya, the capital city of Central Kalimantan, and Ambon of North Maluku, recorded the highest inflation at 6.73 percent each. Banda Aceh posted the lowest inflation at 0.06 percent.

The inflation rate was still below the government`s target of 5.3-6.8 percent set for 2012.

In December alone, the inflation was 0.54 percent on month driven mainly by rising food prices.

Suryamin said foodstuff contributed 1.59 percentage points to the country`s inflation in 2012, manufactured foods and beverages cigarette and tobacco contributed 0.29 percent and transport and communications and financial service 0.26 percent, cloth 0.24 percent, health care 0.18 percent, electricity, gas and drinking water and fuels 0.17 percent ,and education and recreation and sport 0.05 percent.(*)
