Bengkulu (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter Scale jolted Bengkulu Province, Sumatra Island, on Sunday at 11.05 am local time.

The quake`s epicenter was located at 5.12 degrees southern latitude and 103.07 degrees eastern longitude, the Bengkulu meteorology, climatology and geophysics agency reported here on Sunday.

The tremor`s epicenter was around 69 km southwest of Kaur, and at a depth of 15 km below sea level.

The earthquake did not trigger a tsunami but local residents was shocked briefly when they felt the tremor, Linau Village Head Sirajudin said.
