"Drug, which has victimized people in all layers in society such as politicians, artists and those of other professions, is one the biggest enemies of the people," Marzuki Alie said.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - House Speaker Marzuki Alie said that drug is one of the Indonesian people`s big enemies which could involve anyone, including politicians and artists.
"Drug, which has victimized people in all layers in society such as politicians, artists and those of other professions, is one the biggest enemies of the people," he said here on Monday.
He said that the victims of narcotics are not only politicians and artists but also university and school students.
The house speaker made the remarks in response to the arrest on Sunday of 17 people, including artists Raffi Achmad and Wanda Hamidah by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Raffi`s home in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, for allegedly consuming drugs.
Marzuki Alie, all layers in society now could be trapped in consuming drugs.
"The danger of narcotics can befall anyone now, no matter who she or he is, and no matter what profession he or she has," Marzuki Alie said at the Parliament building.
He said that if members of the families were able to prevent the danger of narcotics, the danger of drug circulation could be minimized.
He said this should be done as the distribution of drugs has reached in all groups of profession so that the efforts to fight it should also be done in a massive way.
He said that to fight against narcotics, it should be done from the smallest unit of the people, namely from oneself and the family.
"To fight drugs, we should start it from the smallest circle of our society namely ourselves and our families," he said.(*)
