Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) plans to establish a special task force that will handle aircraft and working units to prevent accidents that have often happened so far.

"TNI-AU carries out high risk duties and therefore we will establish a special task force to manage aircraft and working units in addition to duties and responsibilities also embedded in the duties and responsibilities of commanders," TNI AU Chief of Staff Marshal Ida Bagus Putu Dunia on the sidelines of a TNI-AU leadership meeting here on Wednesday.

According to him, the task force will examine causes of accidents and take the right actions.

He also explained that the issue would also be discussed at the meeting.

"We must find the root cause of incidents so that we can make a unanimous conclusion to find right solutions," he said.

He said the special task force would be set up because conclusions were often not unanimously made due to vested interests.

"Vested interests emerge due to problems between soldiers," he said. .

Regarding the 12th Squadron Hawk 110 fighter jet`s failure to take off at Sultan Syarif Kasim II Air Port in Pekanbaru on Tuesday (Feb 5) he said he had not yet known about its true cause until now.

"We are still investigating it," he said.

He said TNI-AU continued studying it to find its root cause so that right actions could be taken to prevent it from recurring in the future.

He said he was grateful the accident had claimed no casualties and the pilot was safe while the plane only had a brake system problem.

"I hope there will be no more plane accidents involving TNI-AU soldiers. There must be zero accident in the future," he said.(*)
