Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-owned Enterprise Minister Dahlan Iskan said that state logistics board Bulog was able to avoid corrupt working culture and performed well in 2012.

The minister said here on Thursday that Bulog was able to make at least three achievements in 2012, namely reflecting its clean work, setting a new record in rice procurement and avoiding corrupt culture.

"I did not previously think that Bulog was able to increase its working performance. It has totally changed and has been able to eliminate corrupt working culture to become a clean and hard working board," the minister said..

The minister made the remarks on the sidelines of a function held to hand over awards to Bulog`s Jakarta Regional Division and its porters in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

He said that in 2012 Bulog was able to set a record of procuring 3.67 million tons of rice, the highest procurement in its history.

The year-end stocks of the agency which is tasked with the task of stabilizing the prices of five commodities (rice, maize, soybean, sugar and beef) reached 2.23 million tons.

"The new record it has set in the rice procurement indicated that Bulog has changed into the better," the minister said.

On the occasion, Minister Dahlan gave appreciation to Bulog porters who worked everyday in Bulog`s regional division. They were considered to have supported the board in improving its work performance.

He said that the porters contributed a lot to the logistics board for their ability to lift 7-10 sacks of rice to the warehouse.

"These awards are given in the framework of expressing our thanks for Bulog which is to celebrate its anniversary in 2013," Minister Dahlan said.(*)
