Jakarta (Antara News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) here on Friday named Riau province`s Governor Rusli Zainal as suspect in a bribery case, spokesman Johan Budi said in a press conference.

"The anti graft commission has found enough evidence to name Rusli Zaenal as suspect in bribery case on the construction of National Sports Competition`s venue last 2010 in Riau province," Johan said.

Rusli Zaenal is charged with Regulation Number 20/2001 and regulation Number 55 Article 1 about ban for government officials to accept bribe money or presents in return for his influence.

The governor is also charged for allegedly giving bribe money to several regional lawmakers to ease off regulation for the construction of National Game`s venue in Riau province.

Rusli denies the allegation towards him saying that he has no involvement in the construction project.

KPK has named 13 suspects in the case where 10 among them are members of Riau Legislative Council. Up till now three suspects have been sentenced to four years in jail, they are Faisal Aswan (Golkar party), M Dunir (PKB party) and Taufan Andoso (PAN).

Meanwhile the rest seven lawmakers are still on detention center waiting for trial. They are Adrian Ali (PAN), Abu Bakar Siddiq (Golkar), Tengku Muhazza (Democrat), Zulfan Heri (Golkar), Syarif Hidayat, Muhamad Rum Zein (PPP), Turaoechman Asy`ari (PDIP).(*)
