"They will be submitted this week. So, just wait," he said but declined to comment on them.
The present governor, Darmin Nasution, will end his term of office on May 22 this year. According to the law, the President must submit the names of the candidates for the next BI governor to the House of Representatives (DPR) three months earlier at the latest.
A member of the House Commission XI from the Golkar Party, Harry Azhar Azis, had said that the deadline for the submission of the names was February 22.
He said the President should maximally submit three names for being discussed at a plenary meeting.
"The names would be later taken to the Consultative Body and from there they would be sent to the Commission XI for a decision," he said.
The DPR also plans to determine deputy governor Budi Mulya`s replacement and so far there have been two candidates namely Perry Wardjiyo and Hendar.
"We will choose one of them," he said adding the DPR would decide Budi Mulya`s replacement on March 11 through a consensus or a vote.
Harry said based on Article 27 paragraph 1 of the Bank Indonesia Law the BI board of governors consists of governor, senior deputy governor and minimally four deputy governors. He said right now there are only one governor and three deputy governors.
Economic observer Mirza Adityaswara had said that the chance for the present governor to be re-elected was still big because he has so far been considered successful and his leadership is still needed to further boost the country`s economy. (*)
