Boediono said that Indonesia could not shun the impact of globalization that hit all sectors such as economic, social, culture, include education.
Indonesia should address the concern about erosion potential of private higher education institute (PTS) related to ASEAN Economic Community in 2015, said Boediono.
Especially entering the information technology era, universities in the world have introduced on line system in running the school, so that students do not need to be present at the university in abroad.
"Harvard University is now even run courses through the on line system, so it is impossible to stop the entry of foreign universities in Indonesia," said Boediono.
One of the best ways to face the existence of foreign universities in Indonesia, said Boediono, was PTS asked to prepare the education program to be better and consolidate inter PTS.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Association of Indonesian Private Higher Education Provider Board (ABP PTSI) Thomas Suyatno said, ASEAN Economic Community in 2015 could be a threat to private universities in Indonesia.
He added, the PTS in Indonesia needs to prepare better management.(*)
