"The President`s message is clear: the truth will prevail."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is not disturbed at all by accusations that he has interfered in various legal cases so far, Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam said.
"The President heard about the accusations linking him to the naming of individuals as suspects but ignored them. He is not slightly disturbed," he said here on Thursday.
Dipo Alam said President Yudhoyono had even reminded the people of the country`s status as a law-based country and in view of that had appealed to them including political parties to not become desperate and to trust in the legal process.
"The President asked all parties to assure the rule of law and that justice will be done. There is no need for them to interpret the current process too much," he said.
He said the President was not disturbed by all the accusations as he still had to continue leading his government so that it remained on the right track.
As the head of state and the head of government, President Yudhoyono has always used his power according to the Constitution and other laws, he said.
"For the past nine years leading the country the President has never interfered the KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission), the Attorney General Office or the Police including in the naming of an individual suspect let alone arrest, jail or acquit him," he said.
Dipo Alam said President Yudhoyono was very concerned over the incident and the discourse that has developed recently.
"The President has remained consistent that he will always refer any legal case to a legal process," he said.
He said the President believed KPK as an independent, credible and professional institution could never be influenced or pressured by any party including the presidential institution.
He said President Yudhoyono had asked all parties to think positively with regard to legal processes currently underway.
The President said every citizen is obliged to abide by the law and respect the legal process, adding if one is found to be not guilty the person concerned must be released and his reputation restored, Dipo said.
"The President`s message is clear: the truth will prevail," he said.
Dipo`s statement came after the President`s ruling Democrat Party chief Anas Urbaningrum was named suspect in a corruption case recently.
