Berlin (ANTARA News) - German President Joachim Gauck received Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the Schloss Bellevue Presidential Palace at 11 am local time on Monday.

The Indonesian president in the company of First Lady Ani Yudhoyono was greeted by Guack and wife Daniela Schadt.

They were welcomed with an official state ceremony. A number of German children also welcomed the president and his wife.

In return to the elementary school children, the Indonesian president and wife also waved hands to them.

President Yudhoyono and President Guack will hold bilateral talks on increasing bilateral relations.

In the meantime, First Lady Ani Yudhoyono will also hold talks with Germany First Lady Daniela Schadt.

The President and his entourage arrived in Berlin, Germany, on Sunday night for a three-day working visit until March 6, 2013.

In the company of First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, the Indonesian head of state arrived at Berlin airport at 8.30 pm local time after a 16-hour flight from Jakarta.

President Yudhoyono`s entourage is made up of among others Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa, deputy defense minister Sjafrie Syamsuddin, Industry Minister MS Hidayat, Trade Minister Gita Wiryawan and other government officials.

Presidential Special Staff for International Affairs Teuku Faizasyah said the president`s visit was to increase bilateral relations between Indonesia and Germany.

"In Germany, the president will hold bilateral talks with President and Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Angela Merkel. The bilateral meeting will discuss a follow up to the comprehensive partnership cooperation agreement launched by the president and the German chancellor in Jakarta on July 10, 2010," he said.

The two sides will also discuss priority cooperation in the economic field (trade, investment and development), health, education, research, technology and defense industry, besides transportation, energy and food resilience.

"President Yudhoyono is also scheduled to open the International Tourism Bourse with Chancellor Merkel, meet with several CEOs of German companies and Indonesian community living in Germany," Faizasyah said.

After visiting Germany, President Yudhoyono is scheduled to leave for Budapest, Hungary, to meet with the country`s Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

"Both leaders will discuss future efforts to improve bilateral relations in many sectors such as the economic field," said Faizasyah.

While in Hungary, President Yudhoyono is also expected to meet with local investors to discuss investment potentials in Indonesia. (*)
