Berlin (ANTARA News) - Indonesian President Susilo Yudhoyono and German Chancellor Angela Dorotheam Merkel are scheduled to jointly open the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) Berlin on Tuesday.

President Yudhoyono has expressed his hope that Indonesia's participation in the ITB Berlin as the official partner country could encourage tourism industry at home.

"I am proud that Indonesia this year is the official partner country in such a spectacular and prestigious tourism exhibition," President Yudhoyono in a German business forum on Monday night.

The Indonesian head of state expressed hope that the promotion of various tourism potentials in Indonesia during the ITB Berlin, German community and business makers will get more information and opportunity to invest in tourism in Indonesia.

He noted that Indonesia will also become partner country in the Bauma 2013, the 30th International Trade Fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment from April 15-21, 2013 in Munich, Germany.

The president added that the Jakarta Declaration Cooperation Framework which was agreed some time ago between the governments of Indonesia and Germany would be the basis of several cooperation in various fields between the two countries.

He explained that German businessmen have had business relation with Indonesia for a long time.

Yudhoyono pointed out that the Siemens, a German multinational engineering and electronics conglomerate company, has been helping communication development in Indonesia since 1909.

"Siemens opened its first office in Surabaya, East Java, in 1909," the president noted.
