Berlin (ANTARA News) - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono opined that his country has started to reap the result of its foreign policy and diplomacy that restored the country`s image in the eyes of international community.

"We have had an early harvest, but not all can be harvested in the near future because we call it `long term benefit`," President Yudhoyono told his ministers and a number of media leaders at Adlon Hotel here on Monday night.

Yudhoyono`s statement was referred to the recovery of Indonesian image in Germany following the improvement of a sustainable high level consultation and cooperation.

According to the president, German considered Indonesia a strong economic country which has financial capability to procure its weaponry system.

President Yudhoyono pointed out that during the visit to Indonesia by Chancellor Angela Merkel in July 2012, Indonesia and Germany signed the Jakarta Declaration to indicate a strategic orientation in the two countries` relations.

Indonesia-German partnership covers covers political, economic, cultural and civil-society exchange.

Last year Indonesia and Germany celebrated the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Indonesia is a key partner for Germany in the Asia-Pacific region; it is a dynamic economic partner, a political heavyweight and, as a founding member of ASEAN, an important anchor of stability in Asia. Germany and Indonesia work side by side at global level as partners in the G20.

On the occasion President Yudhoyono asserted that never did Indonesia use its fighter planes, helicopters, tanks and artillery to kill its own people anywhere in the country.

"Not in Aceh, not in Papua, nowhere," the president said.

Related to long term advantages if foreign policy that Indonesia will reap, President Yudhoyono said it would be enjoyed by the countries leaders in the future.

President Yudhoyono is on a three-day working visit to Germany from March 3-6, 2013.(*)
