Simpang Ampek, W Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Police in West Pasaman district, West Sumatra, have arrested two people on charges of trafficking in a kilogram of hashish.

"The two suspected traffickers, identified as Dedi Gusnanti (33) and Andi (18), were arrested by Lembah Melintang police precinct officers on Tuesday night. They are now being held in a police custody," chief of the West Pasaman police resort Adj. Snr. Comr. Prabowo Santoso said here on Wednesday.

The police made the arrest following a tip-off from local residents who were suspicious of their activity, he said.

"The police seized a kilogram of hashish from the suspects. It is believed they have been trafficking in hashish for a quite long time," he said.

He said the police are interrogating the suspects to see where they got the hashish from.
