"Muslim fashion in Indonesia has its own specific characteristics that other countries don`t have."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Muslim wear and accessory exhibition dubbed "Muslim Fashion Expo 2013" will be organized in SME Tower, here, April 3 to 7 and targets Rp5 billion in transactions.
The Cooperatives and Small-and-Medium Scale Enterprise (SME) Ministry will facilitate the fifth Muslim wear fashion expo, Neddy Rafinaldi Halim, the deputy minister in charge of marketing and business networking, said here on Monday.
The expo is expected to attract at least 8,000 visitors. Last year, the Muslim wear fashion event recorded Rp7.6 billion in sale transactions, exceeding the target of Rp5 billion.
This year, despite the Rp5 billion-target, the deputy minister hoped that the transactions during the five-day expo would reach around Rp8 billion.
Muslim dresses and accessories produced by around 150 cooperatives and small and medium scale industries will be offered during the expo.
Indonesia`s Muslim wear is more competitive and attractive than similar products made in other countries, he said.
"Muslim fashion in Indonesia has its own specific characteristics that other countries don`t have," he added.
The expo will display and offer Muslim dresses, embroideries, batik and woven clothes, as well as accessories such as necklaces, bracelets, rings, and brooches.
The expo will also be highlighted with fashion shows, musical performances, and beauty class from Wardah Cosmetics.
Fashion is Indonesia`s creative economic product that has shown a growing trend. According to data of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the country`s fashion product exports surged 12.4 percent with the United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, Germany and Australia as the main destinations.
During January-November 2012, the value of the fashion product exports reached US$12.79 billion, an increase of 0.5 percent from that in the same period last year.
The fashion industrial sector has created 3.8 million jobs in 2012, and its contribution to the nation`s cross domestic product rose Rp128 trillion to Rp164 trillion, or up 28.13 percent during the 2010-2012 period.
