Themed 'Creativity and Innovation for Better Living', 18-21 April at the Jakarta Convention Centre

Jakarta, Indonesia, Apr 4, 2013 - (ACN Newswire) - Following the success of 2012, KERAMIKA 2013 returns for the second year, well-poised to promote Indonesia's growing ceramic industry locally and overseas.

According to the Indonesian Ceramic Industry Association (ASAKI), Indonesia's ceramic industry is expected to grow 15% to 20% this year. Supported by Indonesia's growing economy, current strong domestic consumption of ceramic products and the rapid growth in the local property and construction sectors, the demand for quality ceramic products such as flooring, wall tiles, roof tiles and sanitary wares is on the rise.

Since 2011, the local ceramic industry has been experiencing a 10% to 15% year-on-year growth in domestic demand. The consumption of ceramic products in Indonesia is also on the rise, about 8% to 10% increase in consumption per capita per year from 2011.

"The sales turnover for Indonesia's ceramic industry reached 4.6 trillion rupiah (USD 500 million) in the first quarter of 2012. Indonesia's capability to produce high quality ceramic products, strong designs and abundance of natural resources and raw materials position Indonesia to be the regional hub for ceramic manufacturing and retailing," said Pak Elisa Sinaga, Chairman of ASAKI.

Indonesia is already one of the world's top producers of ceramics, ranked 6th among the top 30 manufacturing countries in 2012 and one of the top 10 countries in terms of ceramic consumption since 2010. The total value of imports and exports in 2012 was 20 trillion rupiah and it is expected to hit 30 trillion rupiah in 2013.

"As the leading business and consumer platform for Indonesia's ceramic market, the growth of KERAMIKA in terms of its size and the higher visitorship expected at this year's event are a testament to the rosy prospect of the local ceramic industry. We hope KERAMIKA will in the long run help to anchor Indonesia as Asia's sphere of influence in terms of ceramic production and innovation," said Ms. Michelle Lim, President Director, Reed Panorama Exhibitions (RPE).

KERAMIKA is the only dedicated ceramics event in Southeast Asia. Held in Jakarta, Indonesia, it is jointly organised by ASAKI and RPE to promote the local ceramic industry to the vibrant Indonesian market and the region.

KERAMIKA 2013 will take place on 18-21 April 2013 at the Jakarta Convention Centre in conjunction with the Renovation & Construction Expo (RENEX) 2013, a building material, architectural, construction and interior design exhibition also organised by RPE.

Themed 'Creativity and Innovation for Better Living', this year's exhibition will be bigger with a 47% increase in total floor space, with 7,000sqm showcasing the latest products, global design trends and technological innovations in ceramics. It aims to attract 25,000 visitors, including trade visitors and consumers, from Indonesia and the region. Last year's event drew over 15,000 trade and consumer visitors.

KERAMIKA opens opportunities for the local ceramic industry to network and establish business partnerships with regional and international counterparts. The event brings together major manufacturers, distributors, property developers, architects, contractors, designers, buyers and consumers.

To keep the industry updated on the latest industry developments, opportunities and challenges in Indonesia, KERAMIKA will host a seminar led by award-winning speakers, Dr. Hossein Rezai-Jorabi, founder of Web Structures, an internationally acclaimed civil, structural and geotechnical engineering consultancy, and Ms. Diana Nazir, co-founder of Artura Insanindo, Indonesia's leading design and install contractor. Presented by ASAKI, the KERAMIKA Design Seminar will focus on the latest in design trends.
