Xi`an, China (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia Imron Cotan said Indonesia was very open to Chinese investors.

"Chinese investors, particularly those coming from Xi`an City can make use of many investment opportunities in Indonesia," the ambassador said on the sidelines of an investment climate conference in Xi`an, China on Saturday.

He said that with China`s economic growth at about 7.5 percent and with large foreign exchange reserves, China, particularly its investors, had no reason not to make investment in Indonesia.

"The investment climate in Indonesia is very conducive and is supported with a number of policy instruments that will facilitate investors," the ambassador said.

Imron said that Chinese investors could capitalize on many investment opportunities, including the opportunity to involve in infrastructure development.

The infrastructure development is being carried out to support the country`s mater plan for acceleration and expansion of Indonesia`s economic development (MP3EI) project worth about US$600 billion.

"To carry out the MP3EI project we need infrastructure development such as the construction of roads, bridges, seaports, airports and others. We invite Chinese investors, including investors from Xi`an," the ambassador said.

He said that since both sides signed a strategic partnership cooperation agreement in April 2005, cooperation in various fields between the two countries had been rapidly expanding and increasing.

"To support the program, the Indonesian embassy in China has been organizing routine trade promotion forums, tourism and investment in a number of Chinese cities, including now in Xi`an," Ambassador Imron Cotan said.

He said that China had been one of the largest trade partners of Indonesia since the signing of the strategic partnership agreement.

The two-way trade of the two countries in 2012 totaled US$66.2 billion, up from that in the previous year which was US$60.59 billion.

"With the positive development, the economic cooperation between Indonesia and China, including Xi`en, will continue to grow and increase," he added.

After addressing the conference, the ambassador and the Xi`an City officials witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements between local business and their respective counterparts.

A total of 34 memorandums of understanding were signed on the occasion with a value of US$800 billion.

In the meantime, the local government of Xi`an City, Shaanxi Province, China, has offered tourism cooperation to Indonesia to further strengthen good cooperation between China and Indonesia.

"Indonesia and Xi`an City have a lot of opportunities for increasing bilateral cooperation, among other things in the tourism sector," Wei Minzhu, the secretary of the Xi`an Chinese Communist Party, said when receiving Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia Imron Cotan on Saturday.

"Xi`an City has many interesting tourism destinations. With a long history and different local cultures, Xi`an is one of China`s tourism destination regions which is worth visiting," Wei Minzhu said.

He said that Indonesia also had many interesting regions for tourists such as Bali. It also had abundant natural wealth and beauty.

Therefore, Indonesia and Xi`an share the opportunities to cooperate in the tourism sector, he said.

On the occasion, Wei Minzhu said as one of the industrial hub cities in China, the Xi`an city government also invited Indonesian businessmen to make investment in various sectors, apart from the tourism field, in Xi`an.

"Xi`an has various investment opportunities for investors from foreign countries, including Indonesia. It among others offers opportunities in the manufacturing and electronic sectors," he said.
