Bandung, W Java (ANTARA News) - The government is targeting the number of poor students receiving scholarships to increase by 29 percent in 2014, a minister said.

"The number of recipients next year will be larger than this year," National Development Planning Minister/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Armida Alisyahbana said here on Wednesday.

To date, 10 percent of poor students receives scholarships, with scholarships for elementary school students reaching Rp250,000, junior high school students Rp500,000 and senior high school students Rp750,000 per year, he said.

"Starting next year the amount of scholarships for elementary school students will be raised to Rp500,000, junior high school students to Rp750,000 and senior high school students to Rp1 million per year," she said.(*)
