"A breakthrough is being designed to form an investigation department," OJK specialist Rizal Ramdhani, said here on Thursday.
Rizal said, the plan to establish an investigation department is aimed to accommodate and deal with disputes between clients and financial agencies.
"Before being named investigators, the police officers and civil servants would be trained on OJK system of investigations," he said.
He said the OJK investigators would play an important role as a mediator in any dispute.
He said the plan to form the investigation department is in line with the law No. 21, adding " "OJK has the authority to carry out investigations."
He said the law on OJK is more in favor of clients as OJK offers protection and facilitate claims by clients against financial agencies.
OJK was formed as a watchdog for non-bank financial agencies, capital market and banks.
Currently OJK`s functions are limited only to supervising and regulating non-bank financial agencies and capital market .
The PJK`s supervisory authority would be expanded to include banks in 2014 , taking over the duty from Bank Indonesia, which will concentrate only on monetary affairs.
