Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Senior journalist, Sayyid Dja`far bin Husein bin Ahmad Assegaf, better known as Djafar Assegaf, who was once the Indonesian ambassador to Vietnam passed away on Wednesday morning.

Djafar, who also once served as lecturer of the University of Indonesia (UI), former board of patrons chairman of Nasdem Party, former deputy Managing Director at the Indonesian National News Agency and Media Indonesia daily, died at Mitra Kemayoran hospital here at 5.00 am on Wednesday, one of his children, Gazy Assegaf said.

According to Gazy, Djafar`s body will be laid in state at his residence Munggang Balekambang 58 street, Depok, West Jawa prior to his burial at the Kalibata Heroes` Cemetery in South Jakarta.

The former ambassador was previously got medical treatment at Cipto Mangunkusumo general hospital. Djafar was also one of politicians. (*)
