Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The People`s Conscience Party (Hanura) officially named Wiranto and Hary Tanoesoedibjo as its presidential and vice presidential candidate pair-up for the 2014 presidential race here on Tuesday.

"We (Wiranto and Hary Tanoe), as a presidential and vice presidential hopefuls in the 2014 presidential race, have determined to play a role and lead efforts to make changes in Indonesia" Wiranto said in a declarations in front of hundreds of Hanura`s legislative candidates.

Wiranto, who is former commander of the Indonesian Defense Forces for the 1998-1999 period explained that the different backgrounds of himself and Hary Tanoe were an asset to make changes in the country.

"My experience as a military leader and the experience of my partner as a successful businessman are complementary to each other to make the idea of changes into a reality," Wiranto said.

In the meantime, Hary Tanoesodibjo who is newly appointed as the executive chairman of Hanura`s Election Success Body (Bapilu), said he shared Wiranto`s vision and mission to become the Indonesian government ruler.

"Our different backgrounds where Wiranto is very experienced in the military and (my) economic and business capability will become a maximal strength for this nation," said Hary Tanoe who pulled out recently from the National Democratic Party (Nasdem).

Hanura is the first political party to declare its presidential and vice presidential candidates although the stages of the 2014 general elections process were still in the listing of legislative candidates.

In the 2009 elections, Hanura only secured 18 seats in the parliament (3.21 percent) with total votes of 3,922,870 or 3.8 percent.

In next elections, Hanura aims to be included in the big three of the winning parties.

"Now, we are already popular among the public and have complete instruments in the regions. We are now aiming to be included in the big three," he said.(*)
