Karawang, W Java (ANTARA News) - Police in Karawang district, West Java, conducted urine tests on bus drivers at Klari terminal on Monday.

"All bus drivers, particularly inter-provincial bus drivers, are obliged to undergo a urine test," the head of the Karawang police resort`s narcotics unit, Adj. Comr. Senen Ali, said.

The urine tests were part of an operation, code-named Ketupat Lodaya 2013, aimed at providing security during the post-Ramadan festivities, or Lebaran holidays, he said.

The tests are organized in cooperation with relevant agencies, including the National Narcotics Board (BNN) of the Karawang district office, the local health office, and the transportation office, he explained.

The bus drivers also underwent a health check, which included tests for blood pressure, sugar content, and cholesterol.

"We conduct such medical checks at random," he added.
