Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Former defense forces commander General Endriartono Sutarto has expressed readiness to share his vision on nation building at the upcoming Democrat Party`s convention for the selection of a presidential candidate for next year`s election.

"I have ideas and views about how to develop this country, which I want to share by participating in the convention," he said here on Tuesday.

Endriartono stated that his vision and mission involved improving people`s welfare and the Indonesia`s global competitiveness.

However, he refused to go into details about his vision and mission, saying he would do so at the convention.

"I think it would offend the convention`s committee if I do tell them about it first," Endriartono said.

When asked whether he had quit the National Democrat Party (Nasdem) to take part in the Democrat Party`s convention, Endriartono said he was still a member of the Nasdem because he had yet to submit his resignation letter to the party.

"Meanwhile, however, if I have been discharged, I do not know, because I have not received the discharge letter yet," he added.

The ruling Democrat Party plans to convene a convention in order to select the party`s presidential candidate for next year`s election.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who belongs to the party, is not legally allowed to seek reelection because he has served two terms at the post.(*)
