"The national strategy is line with the government`s policies to address climate change," said Rachmat on Thursday.
He added that the government`s policies are stated in Presidential Regulation 61/2011, on the plan of action in reducing greenhouse gas emissions (RAN-GRK), and in Presidential Regulation No 71/2011, on national greenhouse gases.
Rachmat mentioned that everyone plays an important role in fighting climate change, which is why a national strategy will be adopted.
"All of us have different capabilities. So, efforts would be meaningless if they are not bound by a national strategy," he added.
The national strategy is part of the efforts of DNPI and UN CC:Learn, a partnership of more than 30 international institutions, under the United Nations.
In late 2011 and early 2012, Indonesia, the Dominican Republic, Uganda, Benin, and the Maldives were selected as pilot projects for skills and human resources development to fight climate change. These five countries obtained technical assistance through UN CC:Learn.
