Los Angeles (ANTARA News/Xinhua-OANA) - The Academy Award-winning American filmmaker Woody Allen will receive the Golden Globes` Cecil B. DeMille Award, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced.

The prolific writer-actor-director will be conferred on the honorary honor, given annually to the talented individuals who have made an incredible impact on the world of entertainment, on Jan. 12 at the 71st Annual Golden Globes ceremony.

"There is no one more worthy of this award than Woody Allen," said HFPA president Theo Kingma in a prepared press release announcing the award. "His contributions to filmmaking have been phenomenal and he truly is an international treasure."

Allen, who has made 45 films including "Annie Hall," "Manhattan,""Hannah and Her Sisters" and other iconic flicks, earned 13 nominations for Gloden Globe awards. He won only twice for screenwriting "The Purple Rose of Cairo" in 1985 and "Midnight in Paris" in 2012, respectively.

The famed filmmaker, whose career spanned more than half a century, is more successful along the Academy Award trail, earning 23 nods and winning four of them.

Other important figures who received the honorary honor include actress Jody Foster, actor Morgan Freeman and Robert De Niro, and directors such as Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.
