Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has searched the office of Banten Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah`s younger brother, Tubagus Chaeri Wardana, in connection with his alleged involvement in a bribery case.

"It`s true. From 5 p.m. yesterday till 1 a.m. today, KPK investigators have searched the office of TCW (Tubagus Chaeri Wardana)," said spokesman for KPK Johan Budi on Tuesday.

The office of PT Bali Pasific Pragama, the contractor of a number of infrastructure projects, is located on the 12th floor of The East Building in Mega Kuningan, South Jakarta.

"The investigators have confiscated 15 boxes of documents," Johan Budi said.

Tubagus Chaeri Wardana alias Wawan has been named a suspect for allegedly having bribed former Constitutional Court Chief Judge Akil Mochtar in connection with a dispute over Lebak district head`s election results.

KPK has confiscated Rp1 billion in Rp100 thousand and Rp50 thousand notes, put into a travel bag from the house of the parents of Susi Tur Handayani, who would hand over Wawan`s money to Akil Mochtar.

The panel of Constitutional Court judges, led by Akil Mochtar on October 1, 2013, decided to grant the appeal of Amir Hamzah-Kasmin from Golkar Party, following their loss and order the General Elections Commission chapter of Lebak district in Banten province to repeat the vote for the election of Lebak district`s head.

Wawan`s lawyer on Monday denied his client`s involvement in the legal district head`s election.

He also said Susi is not the lawyer of a conflicting party in the dispute in Lebak head`s election but a lawyer for a party in the dispute over Serang mayor`s election.

The post of Serang mayor is now held by Tubagus Haerul Jaman, who is also Ratu Atut`s half-brother.

Several relatives of Ratu Atut are holding various government positions in Banten province and also at a national level - Hikmat Tomet, who is her husband, is a member of the House of Representatives` Commission V; Andhika Hazrumy, the first son of Ratu Atut, is a member of the Regional Representatives Council of Banten province; and Ade Rosi Khairunnisa, wife of Andhika, is a deputy speaker of the Serang city legislative assembly.

Andiara Aprilia Hikmat, the second child of Ratu Atut, meanwhile, is a candidate for House of Representatives membership, while Tanto Warsono Arban, Andiara's husband, is also a candidate for the House of Representatives membership.

Heryani, step mother of Atut, is currently the head of Pandeglang district and Ratu Tatu Chassanah, sister of Ratu Atut, is deputy head of Serang district.

Ratu Atut`s step brother, Tubagus Chaerul Jaman, meanwhile, is the mayor of Serang, while Airin Rachmi Diany, wife of Wawan, is the mayor of Tangerang Selatan.

KPK has named Akil Mochtar as a suspect in connection with the disputes over the elections of district heads of Gunung Mas in Central Kalimantan province and Lebak in Banten province.

It has also named parliamentary member Chairun Nisa from Golkar Party and Gunung Mas district head Hambit Bintih and Cornelis Nalau, a businessman, as suspects in connection with Akil`s case.

KPK has confiscated S$284,050 and US$22 thousand in connection with the case.

In the case of election dispute in Lebak, Akil and Susi Tur Handayani have been named suspects for allegedly receiving bribes while Tugagus Chaery Wardana has been named a suspect for paying the bribes.

Banten province has so far been known as the stronghold of Golkar Party, which is one of the biggest political parties in the country. (*)
