Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government is considering appealing against the State Administrative Court (PTUN)s verdict annulling a presidential decree on the appointment of Patrialis Akbar and Maria Farida Indrati as Constitutional Court Justices.

"He (President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono) has been informed of the matter and has considered views from the Law and Human Rights Ministry. The government is considering appealing against the verdict," presidential spokesman Julian A Pasha stated at the Presidential Office here, on Tuesday.

Julian noted that the appointment of Patrialis Akbar and Maria Farida Indrati as Constitutional Court Justices was based on the mandate of the law which authorized the President, the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Supreme Court (MA) to nominate constitutional court justices.

The President had received considerations, inputs and suggestions from agencies under the purview of the presidential institution with regard to the matter, he noted.

He said the government will file the appeal in 14 days after the verdict has been issued.

The two Constitutional Court justices would continue to perform their duties until the period of 14 days ended, he added.

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto stated that he had consulted relevant parties to make preparations for the appeal.

The State Administrative Court on Monday annulled the presidential decree on the appointment of Patrialis Akbar and Maria Farida as Constitutional Court justices.

Under the presidential decree number 87/P/2013 dated July 22 Patrialis was appointed to replace Constitutional Court justice Achmad Sodiki who entered retirement.

Based on the decree, the President also extended Maria Faridas term of office.

The court annulled the decree on the ground the appointment of Patrialis Akbar as a Constitutional Court justice was legally flawed. ***1***
