Jakarta (ANTARA News) - One of six terror suspects, Nurul Haq, who was gunned down by the National Polices anti-terrorism squad, Densus 88, during a raid conducted on New Years Eve, was planning to perform Jihad in Syria.

"Nurul Haq was planning to go to Syria for performing Jihad and had completed the required preparations, such as passport, visa requirements, and other necessities," stated Indonesian Police Chief General Sutarman here on Thursday.

According to Sutarman, the six terror suspects, who were gunned down by the police, hailed from the Abu Roban group, which was also affiliated to the international terrorist syndicate, Al Qaeda, that was led by Osama Bin Laden.

"This group had connections with its seniors totaling 72 persons (including Nurdin M. Top and Ashari who have also been killed) but they have paid repentance. While, those seven suspects are still culpable for their actions," he noted.

Sutarman added that Nurul Haq was also involved in some training programs on bomb assembling held in Poso, Central Sulawesi.

The police believe that Nurul Haq and his group were about to share the money looted from the BRI Bank in Tangerang District to fund their planned terrorist activities. During the raid by Densus 88 on Tuesday, Rp200 millions worth of cash was found at their rented house in South Tangerang District, Banten Province.

Besides the cash money, the police also recovered three iron pipe bombs, three paralon pipe bombs, five 50-centimeter daggers, five assembled guns, a 38-calibre revolver with removed series number, thirty-four 9-millimeter bullets, a printout of the bombing target, a hand-written bomb-assembling tutorial, and several books.

The police also retrieved a motorcycle, which was used by Nurul Haqs partner, Dayat AKA Daeng, to flee. The motorcycle, with a police number plate B 6516 VGE, was stolen from a security guard and was left at one of the crime scenes in Pondok Aren, South Tangerang District.

"I am 100 percent sure that it was Nurul Haq, since his DNA had matched with that of his parents and the test results confirm the same," Sutarman claimed.

The Abu Roban group was also related to a bomb found in a food stall in Panongan, Tangerang District.
