KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Jan. 21, 2014 (ANTARA/PRNewswire) -- As 2014 commences leading international planning and design group, PLACE Design Group (PDG) is setting the tone for what many predict to be a year of strength and growth. Adding to its growing list of office locations across Australia and China, the group has opened its first office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, becoming the centre for its South East Asia expansion.

PDG began operations in Australia in 2001 and now has a team of over 180 staff with reach across Australia, China, South East Asia and the Pacific Islands. The group's unprecedented growth over the last 13 years can be attributed to their 'one company' organisational structure which saw the group expand in 2008 throughout the GFC when many were faltering. This 'one company' culture enabled the group to spread risk by being multi-disciplinary in a range of markets, giving individual offices the capability of big company 'know-how' whilst remaining comparatively small and in balance with their local markets.

Shaun Munday, Managing Director of PLACE Design Group says, "We are excited to expand our operations into South East Asia. Individually many of our key staff have gained extensive experience across the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia over the last 30 years. We continue to build upon our presence here through investment in the Asia Pacific region and realise opportunities with our local leisure and resort capabilities. The Kuala Lumpur office will be a solid base for our South East Asia growth and a strong strategic move for the group."

Responsible for delivering a number of high profile projects, PDG has already built a reputation as a leader in Planning, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design with the likes of Surfer's Paradise Foreshore Redevelopment in Australia, Sir Bani Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, Meilisha Cove and Canton New World Golf developments in China, and Natadola Master Plan and Momi Bay Resorts Strategic Review in Fiji, under its belt. This is set to expand even further with PDG already in partnership with numerous large scale developers in the region.
Heading up the Kuala Lumpur office is PLACE Design Group Principal, Lucas Spensberger, with over 15 years industry experience throughout Australia, Middle East, South East Asia and China.

"South East Asia is a rapidly expanding market and KL was the obvious choice for our office base, not only due to its strong local economy but also as a central location that would allow us to look regionally and diversify," says Lucas.

"PLACE Design Group has worked hard to create strong ties with a number of other Australian engineering and architectural practices based in the region. These relationships, along with our 'one company' culture, which provides a breadth of experience in Planning, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design, gives us a unique approach to Master Planning in South East Asia and a strong competitive advantage."

PLACE Design Group officially opened their Kuala Lumpur office last week in Mont Kiara. It is the 10th office location for the group globally. For further information on PDG visit http://www.placedesigngroup.com.
