Jakarta, Feb 13, 2014 - (ANTARA) - The inaugural Singapore Design Week (SDW) from 10 to 16 March 2014 will bring together a collection of over 50 local and international design activities at the National Design Centre and other venues. Organised by the DesignSingapore Council and supported by design associations and partners, the SDW will feature SingaPlural 2014 as the anchor event. For the first time, there will be two major design trade platforms - the home-grown International Furniture Fair Singapore 2014, and the Paris-based MAISON&OBJECT ASIA - happening within the week. The SDW will also see the presentation of the first Singapore Good Design Award and Mark (SG-Mark).

Open to the design community, businesses, design students and the general public, the SDW will feature the annual Value of Design Forum and the inaugural Singapore Design Business Summit, where internationally acclaimed design thought leaders and business owners will share their experiences on how design value creation contributed to their business success.

Parents and pre-school educators can pick up tips on how to cultivate a sense of wonder and creativity in young children at the ManyWaysOfSeeing seminar and exhibition. Members of the public will also be able to experience the benefits of design in their everyday lives through Design Trails and exhibitions. The Design Larger Than Life and 30 LifeStories - irememberParks will feature interactive installations at Dhoby Ghaut Green and the National Design Centre.

"We are excited to collaborate with our design partners including the nine-member DesignS network of design associations, to bring together talent from our design community via the Singapore Design Week. As the national agency for design tasked to drive stronger use and appreciation of design, we believe the Singapore Design Week will be an effective platform to understand the value of design," said Mr Robert Tomlin, Chairman, DesignSingapore Council.

"The multi-faceted SingaPlural 2014, organised by the Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC) and in partnership with eight other network partners of DesignS, highlights and celebrates Singapore design. We hope the activities will inject greater vibrancy during the Singapore Design Week and allow more people to participate in the development of the design landscape in Singapore," said Mr Simon Ong, Chairman of SingaPlural.
